One giant family bed (if you can't beat 'em, join 'em)

Ok....so I know this wouldn't work for everyone...

and I never thought I'd have kids in my bed....

But the reality is that we DO.

Even on nights when they start off in their own bed (they have a double bed in their own bedroom that they share), they both end up in ours sometime during the night....which results in sore necks and stiff backs in the morning.

So....we decided that, with a new baby arriving in a matter of weeks, we needed to make some changes and embrace the situation.

There you have it.....we turned our master bedroom into one. big. bed.

We added a twin bed to our king bed, and the result is one giant bed that fits everyone comfortably :)

When I was thinking about adding another bed to the room, I scoured the internet looking for pictures of someone else that might be as crazy as us....but could find nothing! One or two pictures of mattresses on the floor, and unmade "family beds"...but no real bedrooms with a huge bed. I just wanted to see what it would possibly look like before I made the leap. I am a "bed maker".....as in....I can't start the day without my bed made. It just simply drives me NUTS all day otherwise. I get all "out of control" feeling....and just can't quite function as well as I would if the bed were made.

Weird.  I know.

So....this was bugging me....wondering whether I would manage to still make the bed...and make it somewhat "presentable".

Well...it worked!! I can make it look put together enough to make me feel ok with starting my day :) It's a little trickier to make the bed when it's this huge, but I've got a method now, and it only takes about 2 minutes. Not bad for a little sanity ;)

The bedding is mostly from IKEA....one king duvet + one twin duvet + one large king coverlet across both beds + 4 euro shams and a few random cushions.

The thing is....I really actually love having them close to me in the bed. I love the snuggles. I love knowing that they're safe and sound, and aren't scared. When they're lying beside me, I can tell when they're even starting to get a slight fever (weird momma bear temperature sensor?) and can deal with it before it gets too high, if needed.

The reality is.....they'll be big before too long, and won't be wanting to snuggle. And, as much as I know that's how life goes, and am excited to see them grow up, I know I will be sad when this stage is over. It's just how I am. Can't help it. A bit of a sentimentalist ;)

Although....at 36.5 weeks pregnant, I have to admit....I need my space these nights! And now I've got it :) Lots of space for me and my body pillow :)  Oh...and two small boys...and a husband ;)

Anyways....not for everyone...I know ;)

But it works for us. And whatever helps up all sleep is perfect in my books :)

34 weeks pregnant

Only 6 weeks to go!!

In some ways, I can hardly believe we only have 6 more weeks until this new little family member arrives....but in other ways, it feels like I've been prego forever!

Since this is most likely the last time I'll be pregnant, I want to remember it. I want to remember what it feels like to have a mini human being moving around inside my belly (and let me tell you, this one can MOVE). I'd probably rather not remember the aches and pains, and breathlessness...and complete and utter lack of energy, though ;) But that's all part of it, right? :)

It's a good thing our minds have a way of forgetting most of the bad, and remembering the good.

So....we did a little amateur photo shoot! Thank you, Michelle!!!!! I am so happy to have these photos of my and my belly! :)

We are so excited for this little one to finally arrive!
