Little monsters in the park

The sun came out!

So I took my two little monsters to the park.

A funny little park, that we'd never been to before.

(just so happens to be right beside a house that I want to buy, but am pretty sure we can't afford)

*sigh*

Toby said "After the park, can we just go home to our new house now?"

Haha....well, if I had a couple of big wads of cash in my back pocket, maybe ;)

This is Toby's crazy new hat (from H&M), and he pretty much hasn't taken it off since we bought it.

And that's Finn's new little hat ($2 at Superstore!), and seriously....doesn't he just look like a little man in it?

He strolled over to the fence, and totally posed for a little impromptu "Sears-catalogue" style photoshoot for me :)

All on his own....what can I say...my boy's a natural ;)

Things went slightly sour when Toby happened to get a little water/mud on his jeans.

"I'm going home RIGHT NOW"

He headed over to the fence and promptly put on his best mad face, which really actually suited the hat quite well.  Check out the stance. Arms straight down...feet planted.

He means business.

Well, until I told him that Finny was going to get to the slide first ;)

Competition...works every time.

Then he realized that little Finny was having trouble getting up the steps, so his big brother instincts kicked in, and he said "It's ok, little Finny, I'm here now...I'll help you climb up! Don't worry, I'm right behind you...I'll keep you safe" :)

Melts me every time.

He forgot all about "beating" Finny to the slide, but actually helped him get there first himself :)

"little Finny" was so psyched to get to the top!

So here they are, having fun, playing away...

...and right after this...

Finny hops off, and runs directly off to the far side of the little park (with me running after him, of course)....

And what does he do?

STRAIGHT into the hugest puddle/lake you've ever seen (this thing was at least 8 inches deep). Seriously. No stopping at the edge for a look, just straight in, shouting "WUN!"

"WUN"

"WUN!"

(as in...RUN!)

Straight in, straight down, face first, completely soaking wet, with me in after him to grab him.

Lovely.

Soaked from top to bottom....even the cute little hat.

And my new shoes, of course.

Needless to say, our little park outing ended rather abruptly.

All in a day's work for a momma, right? ;)

Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Nothing like a pink orchid on a hexagon tray to brighten my day!

It seems like every year, once March comes around, I crave a little bit of spring in my home.

I start random organizing projects.....I even clean under my couches.

That sort of thing ;)

And yesterday, while the boys and I were "riding" the John Deere lawn tractors at Home Depot, I spotted this little pink beauty.

I love its tall branches and small, dainty (cherry-blossom-esque) blooms.

Just perfect on my new robin's egg blue hexagon tray!

And not to mention the cute little pink pot it came with! All for $12.99.

Good deal, right?

Small price to pay for making my day a little brighter :)

I've been moving it around my living room....does it belong on the dresser below Toby's painting...?

Or on the dining room table?

Just thought I'd share a cheap little piece of colour that is bound to make you feel like spring is almost here!

I simply cannot wait to put away the winter coats and boots and all that jazz. It is so exhausting just trying to get the boys out the door...fighting with them to put their coats/vests/boots/whatever on.
And I am all over spring my wardrobe right now....and totally freezing my butt off!

Whatever.

So worth it ;)

A new alpaca wool throw from Novica

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Novica, a wonderful Fair Trade company that supports and brings together artisans from all around the world...and provides them with a place where they can showcase their beautiful products and works of art! (Novica works alongside National Geographic)

They were so kind as to offer me a gift card, for the purpose of increasing awareness of their beautiful products :)

And let me tell you....it was NOT easy to choose which item to order! I had no idea they had so much to offer......seriously......they sell everything from rugs, furniture, and cushions ...to dresses, ponchos and jewelry...even a great selection of corporate gifts

And the best part.....each and every single item is made by a talented artisan from countries like Peru, Bali and West Africa.

So....now you're wondering what *did* I end up ordering, right? :)

I chose this........

A beautiful Alpaca Wool Blanket/Throw that was handmade on a small loom in Peru!

Isn't it fabulous?  LOVE it! So soft and snuggly, and the grey and white is perfect for our living room :)

You know me and the whole grey/white combo!

There's another equally gorgeous throw here, if you want to take a look on their site.

Doesn't it just make you want to snuggle up on the couch? :)

I love how it has a "story".....not just another random product that no one knows anything about. A real man and his family wove this blanket on their own loom, with wool from local Alpaca.

I hardly thought this type of commerce still existed anymore! And I didn't even have to go all the way to Cuzco, Peru to find it :)

Not that I wouldn't like a trip to Peru......just, you know....it's probably not in the works right now ;)

I'm more than happy to spread the word about a company this great :)
